Marilyn Narota

Born in Colombia and based in New York City, Marilyn Narota is an exhibiting artist who creates performance based videos, participatory installations and sculptures that address gender, immigration and psychology.

Marilyn Narota ’13 (Fine Arts Post-Bacc) creates performance based videos, participatory installations and sculptures that address gender, immigration and psychology. She explores perception and social norms surrounding femininity and multiculturalism through unexpected use of familiar materials and situations.

Born in Colombia, she also holds a B.A. from Williams College and a M.F.A. from School of Visual Arts. Based in New York City, Marilyn’s artwork has been exhibited at Cloying Parlor, The Hole, El Museo de Los Sures and Project for Empty Space. She is also founder of collaborative artist initiatives such as Artilade Magazine and Kaur Studio. Narota has been the recipient of several scholarship awards and completed the inaugural Grab Back: Feminist Incubator Residency at Project for Empty Space in 2017.
