Frequently Asked Questions

Registration 

 

Q: What is the registration fee?
A: The registration fee is $40 per person (alumnus, parent or friend) for one to three tickets; four or more tickets are $30 each. Children ages 10 and under are free. Tickets for current students, faculty, and staff are $5 per person (includes all meals except Saturday paid lunch). Third party registration fees apply.

 

Q: What does my registration fee include?

A: Your registration fee enables you to sign up for a range of weekend events (i.e. Welcome Reception, workshops, panels, etc.). Your registration fee also includes food and beverages at the welcome reception on Friday, Saturday morning breakfast, and Saturday evening BBQ. Food options for Saturday Lunch are available on and around campus but are not part of the ticket price. Master Guild event is open only to alumni who graduated 1969 or earlier and requires an additional fee and registration.

 

Q: What if a member of my party is not arriving until Saturday?

A: All attendees are required to register for the entire weekend regardless of arrival date.

 

Q: Will I receive tickets for my registration?

A: You will receive a confirmation email after you submit payment for your registration with your personalized itinerary for the weekend. You have up until September 23 to make changes to your personalized schedule. Upon arrival at MICA Weekend, you will need to check in at the registration tables to receive a map / program that will outline the weekend details.

 

Q: I am a MICA Parent. Do I need to register my student or are they responsible for registering themselves?

A: Students will not be automatically registered. If a student would like to attend, he/ she/ they will need to register online ($5/student). 

 

Q: Will I receive a refund if I am unable to attend? 

A: Registrations can be cancelled and fully refunded in the online registration system until 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 29, 2019. You will need to forward your confirmation email that shows proof of purchase to micaweekend@mica.edu.

 

Cancellation requests will not be eligible for an automatic refund after 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 29, 2019. In case of emergency or extraordinary circumstances, refunds may be granted after this date. In such instances, submit a refund request in writing to micaweekend@mica.edu. Telephone requests will be directed to submit the request in writing. Refunds will not be granted after October 3, 2019.

 

Weekend Events/ Panels

 

Q: Can my guests and I attend separate events? 

A: Yes. There is an option to sign up for different events for you and your guests after payment is received. Please remember to fill out your guests name during sign up.

 

Q: If I sign up for the drawing workshop, am I allowed to bring my own materials or do I need to use what is provided?

A: Materials will be provided. You may bring your own supplies; however, MICA is not responsible for lost or damaged materials. 

 

Kids

 

Q: Are children allowed? Is there a separate price for kids?

A: Yes, children are allowed. All children 10 years old and younger are free. 

 

Q: Are there kids activities?
A: There are no activities specifically for kids; however, there are kid-friendly options like open workshops and game design open play.

 

Pets

 

Q: Are pets allowed? Are service animals allowed?

A: Pets are not allowed; however, service animals are allowed. Please refer to MICA’s Emotional Support Animal Policy here https://assets.mica.edu/files/resources/emotional-support-animal-policy.pdf 

 

Food

 

Q: If I am not attending any of the included food events for the weekend, is there a decrease in registration ticket price?

A: No, there is only one ticket price for the weekend. 

 

Q: What if I have food allergies?

A: We will have several accommodating options for everyone (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc). Should you have any specific concerns, feel free to email micaweekend@mica.edu.  

 

Q: Will there be alcohol served at any of the included food events? If I am a student under 21 years old, am I allowed to attend these events with alcohol?

A: Yes there will be a cash bar at the Welcome Reception on Friday and the BBQ on Saturday. Students 21 and under are allowed to be at these events; however, they will not be served alcohol. ID’s will be checked at the table first in order to receive a drink ticket which can be used at the bar.

 

Security

 

Q: Am I allowed to bring a backpack to hold all of my things? Does it need to be clear or within specific sizing (like sports arenas)?

A: There are no restrictions on the type of backpack/ bag that you chose to carry.

 

Q: Where will there be parking available for the weekend? Is there any cost for parking?

A: There is free street parking near campus. However, MICA will also be providing free parking on a first come, first served basis.

 

Visiting Baltimore/ Accommodations

 

Q: How far ahead should I book accommodations?

Q: Are there any other events going on during this weekend at MICA or in the community?
A: All of the events going on at MICA during this weekend have been included in the weekend schedule. Also included on the weekend program (which you will receive at the registration desk) is a list of other events/ activities going on in the community.
