MICA also has an international reputation that draws students from around the world. Students from over 50 countries and territories have enrolled at MICA, accounting for 30% of our student body - a number that has more than doubled in recent years.
Special Opportunities for MICA Seniors
Through a gift of the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation, MICA offers the largest institutionally administered travel grant available to undergraduate fine arts majors. MICA seniors may apply for this grant, which provides $25,000 for travel to research and make art. Another unique travel grant available to MICA seniors is the Meyer Traveling Fellowship for a photography major, which culminates in a solo exhibition at MICA.
Summer Travel Intensives Programs:
- Choose from eight different programs in London, South Korea, South Africa, Paris, Umbria, and the Appalachian Trail.
- Start the study abroad experience as early as the summer following the freshman year.
- Earn 3 credits.
Each year MICA awards three full-tuition scholarships to incoming freshmen for Summer Travel Intensives. If you have completed the Freshman Application for Competitive Scholarships, you will be eligible for this award.
Junior Year Semester Study Abroad Programs
- MICA at SACI, an independent honors program offered in partnership with Studio Arts College International (SACI) in Florence, Italy.
- MICA's International Study Aboard and Exchange Programs offer opportunities for international study abroad during junior year, where students may earn credit while spending a semester at one of 40 institutions.
