Competitive Scholarships for International Students

MICA offers a variety of merit-based awards to undergraduate and graduate students through scholarship competitions. Amounts vary depending on the specifics of each individual competition and the qualifications of each applicant. Award amounts are renewable each year until graduation.

C.V. Starr Scholarship for International Students

This competition awards scholarships ranging from $4,000-$10,000, allocated over four years, to entering freshmen who are international students. To be eligible, a candidate must be a citizen of a foreign country living abroad. This merit-based scholarship recognizes outstanding artistic ability and talent.

International Award of Excellence

This competition awards two entering freshman or transfer students $10,000 to $15,000 per year for each year of undergraduate study at MICA. To be eligible a candidate must be a citizen of a foreign country and be living outside the United States. This merit-based scholarship recognizes outstanding artistic achievement and a commitment to pursuing a career in the visual arts.

In addition to these select scholarships, international students are eligible to compete in the general freshmen and transfer scholarship competitions.

Competitive Scholarship Application Procedures for International Students

Step 1: Application

Freshman and transfer international students should check the box to compete for merit-based scholarships on the application for admission. Apply at the CommonApp.  Please refer to the application procedures for international freshmen and transfer students for more details.

Step 2: Portfolio of Artwork

The portfolio of artwork you prepare for your admission application also serves as your portfolio for the competitive scholarships for which you apply.
