Text Selection
Writing Groups and proposed texts, both as a whole and individually, meet the following criteria:
- Address a topic or issue that connects in a significant way to a collection or grouping of texts addressing a set of interrelated topics or issues
- Support a dynamic conversation between participants as part of a theme-based writing group.
- Demonstrate far-reaching ramifications to the field by offering new information and/or promoting specific actions that grow or enhance the field
- Promote and/or inform certain "next steps" which advocate for certain agendas or actions.
- Communicate clearly (i.e., possess real coherency, articulate clearly-stated ideas, and promote tangible outcomes) the meaning and significance of the work and field.
- Represent ethnic, regional, and community diversity.
- Enhance the well-being, development, (self)empowerment and voice of disenfranchised communities .
- Advance the principles and practices of social justice.
- Create and communicate knowledge that is grounded in community-based practice and values.
- Create and support community-based leadership aimed at shared knowledge and cultural practice.
