He is a senior partner at DLA Piper, where he focuses his practice on public law, sports law, and administration litigation matters. Tiburzi is chair of the firm's State Legislative and Public Policy practice and served as managing partner of the firm's Baltimore Office for many years. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Greater Baltimore Committee.

Included in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2006, he was recently named the Best Lawyers 2014 Baltimore Government Relations Practice Lawyer of the Year. This accolade is only granted to a single lawyer in each practice area and designated metropolitan area.
