Students may register for courses through the online registration system during the registration period as stated in the academic calendar; typically beginning in November for spring courses and April for fall courses. All students are provided with a registration appointment time, which is a designated date and time at which they may begin using the online registration system. Students may continue to access this system to modify their schedules through the end of the drop/add periods.
Undergraduate students may be required to meet with their academic advisor prior to accessing the online registration system.
First-Year students are registered by the First-Year-Experience (FYE) advisor and are unable to make schedule changes without prior approval from the Foundation department chairperson or First-Year-Experience advisor.
Due of the prescribed nature of the coursework in these programs, students in the MPS and MBA/MA programs will be registered by the registrar in the division of Open Studies.
It is the student's responsibility to be aware of degree requirements and the potential consequences that dropping/adding classes may have on their academic progress towards a degree. Dropping any required course could potentially delay graduation. A course load of 12-19.50 credits is considered full-time status. Any student who elects to drop below a 12.00 credit course load may be jeopardizing financial aid and scholarship monies, as well as their student visa status if an international student. Any student wishing to take more than 19.50 credits in a semester will incur an additional tuition charge. Students enrolled in a degree program are required to take a minimum of 6.00 credits per semester in order to be considered for financial aid.
Open Studies courses do not count toward the minimum 6.00 credit requirement.
The Schedule of Courses is published twice per year prior to registration for the fall and spring semesters. Please consult the Schedule for further registration instructions and details.
Audits
Students may enroll in a class for audit instead of earning credit. Tuition is charged at the same rate as a class for credit, and students may not exceed the maximum number of credits for full-time tuition.
Students enrolled in class for credit may only change to audit status prior to the deadline to drop; students may change from audit to credit status prior to the deadline to add. No exceptions are made. Attendance is required, and students who fail to meet minimum attendance standards may be withdrawn from the course.
