When you are unable to be with your students in-person for scheduled class/studio sessions, you should keep your class on schedule with students progressing toward your learning outcomes using distance teaching/learning tools. This continuation of education is important in order to be in compliance with the U.S. Department of Education’s Title IV (Federal Financial Aid) policies and keeping students’ financial aid intact. This page is intended to provide guidance and resources for faculty as they prepare to adapt their planned face-to-face instructional activities to utilize synchronous and/or asynchronous distance teaching/learning tools in order to continue coursework. 

Communication is key! You should use @mica.edu email and/or the Canvas interface to initiate communication with students and share with them your plan for continuing their coursework. These and other tools described in the Basic Communication Toolkit can be used to maintain substantive communication with your students as they progress toward achieving your course outcomes.
