I was born in Managua, Nicaragua but grew up in Miami, FL (specifically in a neighborhood where many Nicaraguans live called Sweetwater). I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, where I received my Bachelor in Secondary Math Education. I was heavily involved in college—Orientation Leader, First-Year Experience Peer Leader, Leadership Living-Learning Community, and officer of many Student Organizations. Due to all of my involvements, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in Student Affairs. So, I attended the University of Maryland College Park for my Master in Counseling & Personnel Services with an emphasis in College Student Development. I am starting my 13th year at MICA because I absolutely LOVE working here. I enjoy the community here, and in particular the students we get to work with every day. I love all forms of art—visual, performing, etc. I am extremely grateful and privileged that I get to come to work and be surrounded by art. My wife and I have been together for 15 years and we have 2 amazing daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends, trying new food, going on adventures, watching films, and living each day to the fullest.
