Ask me about: Community Art and Service, FMFs, MICA Day of Service, and Community Site Leaders
I’m Nicolás Rodríguez Melo (you can call me Nico). I’m an artist and an arts administrator with a BFA from the Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá, and a Masters in Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I work in the creation and strengthening of art-related strategies which, combined with other disciplines, allow the empowerment of local communities to negotiate specific problematics. I’ve worked and am interested in the potential of curatorial practices, site-specific interventions and printed publications as pedagogical devices and change ignitors.
If you want to know a bit more about what I do at MICA you can check the Community Arts and Service website. If after that you’re still curious about me, you can check the Fundación 4-18 website, a nonprofit organization based in Colombia in which I serve as co-director.
