Education and art have always been and remain strong pillars of my life.  Having been employed with MICA about a year, I am excited at the chance to combine these two in a personal and professional way.  With a degree in Women's Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park, my academic interests include ways in which art and society can interact with each other to encourage us to share our stories and write our own histories. Art as a conduit for social justice and social change can be very effective and I look for ways to include it in my day to day life. Whether it comes in the form of supporting artists whose work reflect this belief or creating my own written works, I truly believe art and artist can change the world. As a Baltimore native, I am particularly fond of artists from this city and encourage everyone to delve into the local art scene. Some of my favorite writers, community organizers and artists include: $han Wallace, Bilphena, Joy Postell, Sharayna Christmas, Jenné Afiya and Murjoni. Please feel free to stop by my office if you want to talk more in depth about these artists, Baltimore, music, or social justice.
