Pre-College Office Assistant

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Pre-College Program Coordinator and the Director of Youth Programs in Open Studies. This position assists Pre-College staff in modeling and facilitating a healthy, welcoming and inclusive community. Successful candidates are expected to participate in training one week before students arrive and be available on weekdays and weekends throughout the duration of the program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the successful implementation of the Pre-College programming. The variety of tasks associated with this position involve administrative, clerical, physical, organizational and leadership skills
  • Work with Pro Staff and Pre-College Faculty to ensure a safe and positive experience for students
  • Model, implement and enforce Pre-College program policies, rules, and regulations
  • Develop, maintain and model healthy interpersonal relationships with all staff, faculty and students.
  • Facilitate and encourage students to develop and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships, personal wellness, and providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Act as an ambassador for the program when appropriate
  • Provide support, interventions, and referrals when appropriate for individual student needs
  • File work requests with MICA Facilities Management, contact with urgent concerns
  • Collecting, organizing and distributing all mail for students and staff
  • Collecting copy/print jobs at Postal & Print
  • Answering phones and communicating with families and guests
  • Organizing student files
  • Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally
  • Accompany students to the health center, walk-in clinics, or emergency departments as necessary serving as an advocate and liaison for the student

Conditions of Employment:

  • Background check, finger printing
  • Available weekdays and weekends
  • Willingness to potentially receive additional training in order to be up to date on safety, procedures and equipment use.

Qualifications:

  • In good conduct and academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Familiarity with campus resources
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality, as well as excellent and mature judgement
  • Consistently be able to implement program policies and regulations while serving as a role model of appropriate behavior
  • Has previous experience with or interest in working with youth

Compensation:

  • $11 per hour (avg 25-40 hours per week) 
  • Meals while on shift
