Program Manager (PM)

General Purpose

Program Managers (PM) serve in a leadership position within the MICA Program Board (MPB), and support the planning and implementation of major campus programs on behalf of the Center for Student Engagement (CSE). This position will begin in mid-August and end the day after Commencement.

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Program Manager are part-time, 8-10 hour per week student staff members in the Center for Student Engagement and are hired for a 1 year commitment
  • The MICA Program Board consists of four committees, each co-chaired by two Program Managers who oversee the planning, marketing, and implementation of a minimum of five events per year

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a committee co-chair with one other PM, collectively overseeing a group of volunteer committee members (i.e. Program Assistants)
  • Collaborate with assigned committee to plan, market, and implement a minimum of two (2) programs in the fall and three (3) programs in the spring 
  • Coordinate all activities in conjunction with planned events, including set-up, tear down, and clean up.
  • Participate in weekly Program Board staff meetings, every Wednesday from 2:15 -3:45 pm (1.5 hour)
    • Co-facilitate bi-weekly committee meetings (1 hour during every other staff meeting)
  • Attend weekly supervisory meeting (alternating weekly between 1 hour triad with co-chair and Program Director and 30 minute one-on-one with Program Director) 
  • Maintain a minimum of three (3) weekly office hours in CSE
  • Assist with the planning & implementation of all major CSE events including:
    • Halloween Party: Saturday, October 24, 2020
    • Last Blast: Friday, April 23, 2021 
  • Assist as needed with general office representation (e.g. Open House, Portfolio Day, iLEAD, etc). 
  • Support Fall Orientation (August 26 – 30, 2020), which may include serving as an Orientation Leader and/or coordinating evening programs and events
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrates efficient time management while prioritizing workload
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with collaborators and teammates, via email and in-person
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to consider the diverse needs and interests of the MICA student body, and address these through intentional and thoughtful programming

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled MICA undergraduate student

  •  Must be in good academic/judicial standing

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

  • A desire to serve the MICA community

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in program/event planning preferred but not required

Conditions of Employment

Program Managers are expected to attend mandatory trainings in fall and spring, as outlined below:

  • Fall Training: August 19-25, 2020 (includes Joint Student Leader Training: August 21-22, 2020)
  • Spring Retreat: January 23, 2021

Following Fall Training, all Program Managers are expected to support Fall Orientation (August 26 – 30, 2020).

Compensation

  • $1,800 stipend per academic year ($900 per semester)

Hiring Timeline
