General Purpose
The Residential Advisor shares the responsibility for implementing the basic goals of the Residence Life Department by promoting individual and community development.
Summary of Essential Functions
- The position is a full academic year contract including training and hall opening/closing.
- Serve as RA on duty several times a month as determined by selection based scheduling.
- Complete appropriate paperwork as assigned (i.e., incident reports, and occupancy reports).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Report any requests for room changes to the Residential Coordinator and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Report damages, repairs and recommend hall improvements to the Residential Coordinator and complete appropriate paperwork.
- Plan and conduct regular floor meetings.
- Participate in all staff development and training programs.
- Participate in all hall and staff meetings.
- Assist in the distribution and collection of keys.
- Become acquainted with all residents and establish good relationships.
- Plan and implement various programs that broaden students’ experiences and awareness.
- Encourage floor members to participate in floor programs and activities.
- Set a positive example for others in abiding by policies.
- Uphold and interpret the rights and responsibilities of all students through consistent and fair policy enforcement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of: Residence Life on campus living.
- Skills: Active listening and attention to detail.
- Ability to: Learn about other people and help to build community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: RA must maintain good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.00. RA must limit their academic load in the range of 18 hours each semester unless approved by the Residential Coordinator.
- Experience: Must live on campus during the academic year they are a Resident Advisor.
- Certifications/licenses: RA must maintain good judicial standing.
- Must not work in another position on or off campus more than College Requirement.

Conditions of Employment
- Unusual Circumstances related to position include on duty requirements and responsibilities, availability prior and post regular move in times before and after the semester begins.
- Study Abroad: Advanced notice must be given to the Residential Coordinator if applying to Study Abroad program 2 months prior to the application deadline. Students completing Study Abroad for Fall Semester are not eligible to apply.
- Date Availability: Head RA and Resident Advisor move in date is Wednesday, August 12th, 2020. Resident Advisors and Alternate Resident Advisors must be available from August 12th-August 31st (including weekends) for Training and Hall Opening. For any concerns and questions please consult with a Residential Coordinator.
Compensation
Residential Advisors will receive a single bedroom and meal plan for each semester of employment.
Additionally, RAs will receive $550.00 per semester stipend that will be divided by the number of pay periods in the semester.
If an RA either starts or leaves the position during the semester, his/her room and board fees will be prorated accordingly. If an RA resigns or is terminated his/her meal plan and stipend will be stopped.
