MICA partnered with Strategic Planning Partners in Spring 2019 to offer a free, one-day professional development workshop designed specifically for MFA, MA and Post-Baccalaureate graduates at MICA.
Made up of award-winning artists and arts advocates, StrategicPlanning Partners developed
the professional development program for Artists at Creative Capital and The TED Fellows program, and worked with artists in all disciplines around the country. The workshop offered lectures and interactive exercises that enable you to develop skills instrumental for the success of your endeavors post graduation.
The workshop focused on Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Art Business Management, Communication Skills, Time Management and Financial Literacy.
The LAUNCH workshop was the most successful component in my MFA journey. A great graduation gift; I am leaving my graduate program and that is an ending but I am heading to an awesome beginning. - Starr Page, Community Arts, MFA '19
LAUNCH Fellowships
Students who registered for the Creative Capital Professional Development Workshop were eligible to compete for one of four $2500 fellowships to enable graduating artists to stay and practice within Baltimore City. These fellowships are in recognition of the LAB Awards legacy which for six years supported MICA creatives to remain in Baltimore City, helped to strengthen Baltimore’s neighborhoods and further bolstered the city’s identity as a dynamic cultural hub. 2019 recipients of the LAUNCH Fellowships were chosen based on the strength, clarity and feasibility of individual artist business plans created during the workshop.
