He has exhibited along the east coast for 30 years and has been the recipient of MICA's LUCAS Grant in 2003 and the Trustees Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1992. For many years, Stevens has collaborated with Grace Hartigan, the director of the Hoffberger School of Painting, on several projects that benefit museums and groups who serve people in need. Some of the institutions they have been active with are the Baltimore Chamber Music Society, Neuberger Museum of Art, NY, the Parrish Museum of Art, NY, the Ringling Museum of Art, FL, Sotheby's Acuction NY and the Portland Museum of Art, ME.
