Statement
The methodology and graphic inspiration for Thin Ice combine the author’s novel mental health challenges during covid-19 – the darkness, coldness, and strange fragility of that experience – with self-prescribed, technology-enabled walking therapy. The walks are underpinned by clinical research highlighting the environmental influences on mental health. The result is an exploratory data art series and explanatory data visualizations that explore the human dimension of mental health and the city.
