I joined MICA in June of 1990 as the first and only administrative assistant to work in the Office of Communications. Twenty-eight years later, the department is now the Division of Strategic Communications and the number of staff has grown from four to eleven.
I provide assistance to the vice president, the associate vice president, directors and other communications staff. I also serve as the budget manager, invoice processor, and receptionist, just to name a few.
Before joining MICA in 1990, I worked as a secretary/receptionist for the National Institute Against Prejudice and Violence in Baltimore. The Institute studied the nature of prejudice, conflict and ethno-violence on college campuses and workplaces—and the role of the news media in communicating prejudice.
