MICA's Ceramics major provides a highly individualized course of study and fosters the development of a student’s personal voice. The curriculum supports technical skills within a framework of innovation and interdisciplinary thinking, and involves students in traditions and contemporary trends in the medium, with an active engagement in critical inquiry.
The 7,000-square-foot ceramics facility consists of a spacious studio work areas for hand building, casting, throwing and prototyping processes. Separate senior studios spaces as well as individual areas for sophomore and junior ceramics majors are supported. Clay mixing, glaze preparation, new technology processes and an extensive kiln area rounds out this state of the art facility.
