Through a rigorous curriculum that explores traditional conventions and contemporary methods and forms, students in MICA's painting major develop the ability to give voice to their ideas.
The program celebrates the development of strong painting and drawing skills, an exploration of old and new forms (representational and abstract, 2D, and 3D), and an appreciation of independent, personal expression and risk-taking.

Students may meet with the department chair during the sophomore year during regular advisement period to discuss their schedules. All courses for the concentration should be taken at MICA.
Please note that painting majors have priority registration in painting department classes. Independent studies and internships do not count toward the painting concentration.
